Description
The Mount Joy Station project improves ADA accessibility, station functionality, and passenger amenities, and creates a station identity consistent with Main Street Mount Joy revitalization.
This project also included a parking and streetscape undertaking to accommodate growing ridership, improve access to trains, and improve aesthetics consistent with local revitalization efforts.
The total project cost of the station, parking lot, and access and overflow parking improvements was approximately $33 million.
The approximately $30.5 million project has transformed the Mount Joy train stop into a landmark station, with distinctive towers accessible from South Market Street and a pedestrian overpass between the eastbound and westbound platforms. Improvements include:
- 500-foot-long, high-level (accessible) platforms with canopies;
- Lighting
- Slope stabilization;
- ADA improvements, including stair and elevator towers;
- Short-term and long-term parking; and
- Stormwater management.
